As I sat in a corner of the room, I sketched a hat. Maybe it was because of the laughter of the girls, and their little screams of excitement as they buzzed around the room... I felt like pixies were everywhere. I envisioned a pointed hat, warm, soft, felted wool, and flowers, all in cheerful colors.
After a few calculations, I started the hat. By Friday it was finished. I stood impatiently next to the washing machine as I was felting it. I anxiously pulled it out. It was love at first sight! It was just the hat I had dreamed.
For the flowers and leaves, I picked through all my little left over "yarn walnuts". I needed less than 7 yards of each color!
Who knew a hat could make someone so happy!
I will be offering the pattern as a pdf later this week. But there is one little thing I need your help with: a name for my little hat. "Pixie Hat" just does not seem enough for it.
Leave a comment in this post with your suggestion of a name by Tuesday November 16, 10 p.m. Eastern Time, and I will pick one comment at random using a random number generator. The lucky comment will receive all the necessary supplies to make the hat as well as a copy of the pattern!

What do you think of "Gentiana" which is a small flower of this color?
"woodland fairy"
This little hat is adorable!!
what a gorgeous hat!! i was thinking "garden fairy" when I saw it.
What a darling little hat! I like the name "Nissa" It sounds friendly and feminine.
fantasia---is my suggestion, its just precious!
"Goblin Market", because it immediately reminded me of the poem by Christina Rossetti.
I'm terrible at coming up with clever names so I won't even try! I do think the hat is absolutely precious though! Wish I had some little ones to make this for.
Ok, this is so cute, I want to make that hat for me.
This hat is absolutely adorable! You are so talented! An obvious choice for the name would be "Flowerpixie hat", but I hope you'll come up with something much better! :o)
This hat reminds me so much of the Elven folk in Lord of the Rings, so.......Arwen!
What about "Peaseblossom" after one of the fairies in "Midsummer Night's Dream"?
How gorgeous !
"Pixie Bluebell"
:-))
This is a gorgeous hat.
What about: Follet
Fleur DeLight Sprite Hat
Charming hat!! Bringing in the Borage- because the colors and shape look like borage. http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/92423676/Flickr
beautiful!
when i saw the pattern, i thought of moonlight and woodland....i am offering the name "morning glory" inspired by the beautiful shape and color as well as the fact that the morning glory curls up in the sun.
This is gorgeous!
What about Canterbury Bell?
wonderful hat, beautiful model....lila fleur
Canterbury Belle!
(Canterbury bells are flowers -- purple, bell-shaped flowers.)
Adorable hat - I won't be able to show my toddler until I actually finish some other projects for her!
How wonderful! I wish I had a little girl...
As for the name-
Fairy bliss? Winterflower? Flowerfairy?
How about Pixie Blossoms Bonnet? It's definitely a *bonnet*, rather than a cap or a hat, and it's too stiff, really, for a hood. So I think bonnet ;-)
Peaseblossom comes to mind. A name of one of the Fairies in A Midsummer night's dream.
I always thought the name Bronwyn would be a cute name for a fairy.
cute hat, can't wait to make one for my little lady!!!
How about "Fairy Goddaughter"??
Love the hat. It reminds me of a lady in waiting's hat or a pixie
How about lady Pixie?
Lovely hat, and the pictures are great! What about Tanya, after Tanya Mehote the Fariy Queen of English folkore? Or "Queen Mab," frojm an early Peter Pan novel? Or "Gloriana," the Faerie Queene from Edmund Spenser's famous poem? Not quite "pixie" but I imagine the fairy queen is also the monarch of pixies!
The hat is just lovely, and so is the model :)
The lavender color combined with the watercolor-like effect of flowers and leaves makes me want to name it "Painting Dreamland" or " Dreamland Fairy".
It reminds me of how I would imagine a Willy Wonka. I think it should be called "Candyland."
It's darling and so is your daughter! How about Les Sylphides?
This hat is just special! Love it! It makes me think of winter crystal....How about "Elven Magic".
So many good suggestions already. A slight spin on some others: Woodland Warmth.
This is adorable! How about the name of "Lil Dreamer"?
Pixie's Delight. She looks so delightful wearing it!
Love this! How about Sugar Plum or Sprite Blossom?
Love the hat, LOVE the photos, just fab! 'Lilac Love'
This is SO cute! And the model wears it beautifully! =)
I thought of Elves - and check out this photo of the danish Elfo:

Elf Chapeau?
Babooshka ... I had a hat similar when i was a kid that my grandma knit for me (although yours is WAY cooler) and I loved it and for some reason I called it Babooshka!
ruthmgallo at gmail dot com
Gnomella! She looks like a princess gnome! I love it
Where would we be in this marvellous world of ours without such beauties as this hat? It suits your daughter perfectly.
You could name it 'Hortense's Whim' as Hortense is Latin for garden.
Or 'Columbine' after a memorable French story book I loved when I was little about a night elf and a day elf whose lives were turned upside down by a mischevious bird. These elves - one dressed in black the other in pink - wore delicate columbine flower hats. A delight.
your hat is gorgeous, and the photos are just adorable!! don't have a name idea of my own, but i like sugar plum, which someone else suggested...
good luck with finding the perfect name among all these fabulous suggestions!!
Winter Dreams of Spring
Not probably my most creative ;) But I can't think of anything else!
I love this little Tomten style hat....
Call it Älva- the Swedish name for a female elf.
I also think Columbine would be a great name for this hat; although, when I first saw it, Thinking Cap popped into my head. My granddaughter would love this hat.
Faerie Fiore.
Fiore being Italian for flower.
How about Edelweiss??
Lovely hat....lovely model!!
Love it! What about "Winkle Top"?
I left this open all day because I couldn't think of the flower this reminded me of...columbine was the one! of course, a few others beat me to the punch. But columbine, totally.
So cute and what an adorable model. How about "fairy song" or "floraleigh"
What an adorable hat and even more adorable model! How about "Fairy song" or "FloraLeigh"?
okay..
Whimsical Wonder Flower Princess Happy Thoughts Cap!
LOL!
It's quite an amazing hat, I can just picture my little niece wearing one :)
My 9 year old suggests "Little Elf Hat"
Very cute!
Adorable hat, adorable model.
Definition of adorable: delightful, lovable, charming.
How about "Adorable" ? :)
Stardust.
As in Neil Gaiman's Stardust, with its Faeries and little glass flowers.
And as in Hoagy Carmichael's Stardust, with "the garden wall when stars are bright," where "The nightingale tells his fairy tale/Of paradise where roses grew."
You can tell when I really like a pattern....I have left the tab with your new hat up, and I keep looking at it, in between Rav and Facebook!
Can't wait for you to release it!
"A Mid Winter's Night Dream"!
Or, How about "Tute". I may have the spelling wrong but it's the name of a Danish fairy. My petite Danish neighbor was given the name as a small child by her super sized scandanavian brothers. It's stayed with her all her life!
Okay.. hope I make it in time..
"Field Willowfly"
which is 'fairy' for 'Blossom Magic'
Hi,
I seen your hat, I was thinking about how could I call this sweet hat.
Followings comes in my mind
whispering

flower fairy
fairy´s dreaming
Fairy´s XOXO
I hope you find the right one.

What an adorable hat and If I had created it I would call it "Pixie Dust" So cute!!!
I'm thinking Pixie Bonnet. It's more of a bonnet than just a hat.
Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!
Well, what's your daughter's name? I like Fae (of course I would!). You have lots of great ideas from your posters! Your hat's adorable, I'll knit one up as soon as I can stand and watch it felt ...
