When I took the dogs out this morning, the air was so crisp, the sky so blue, and icy white was all around me, reflecting the sun with a million sparkles. I took a deep breath in, and I felt so alive. The children begged to go out a little before school to sled down our driveway. How could I refuse, knowing that soon enough winter would be gone...

Dear Sock Pixie: I wanted to report that I completed my first sock heel last night!! It's a beautiful thing, I must say. As I mentioned to you previously, I am working with that Megaboot yarn...and I was putting off this heel. But, finally faced it down last night. Not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I am using the basic sock pattern in the Purl Stitch book (Sally Melville), and it is pretty easy to follow. Highly recommend it for first time socketeers.
I am leaving for Mexico tomorrow, and I will take my yarn and needles with me - I am hoping to have a new pair of warm socks when I get back...
Enjoying your pictures of snow and ice. It is actually warm and beautiful here - not as dramatic, but pleasant nonetheless! We made our plan for Mexico during last winter's deluge - not much to really escape from this year, but it will still be fun...
Thanks for the encouragement to take on some socks. I am seeing why many are somewhat addicted to this!

Dear Stephanie,
I am so happy your socks are going so well. I have been knitting socks non-stop, and have pretty much decided that there is nothing else for me. OK, I am a creature of habit. I am working on some pretty cool designs of my own, and I am having a blast.
Enjoy mexico.
